ASRock: AMD does not allow sale of Phantom Gaming GPUs in the EU
A representative of ASRock has informed the German version of Tom’s Hardware that the company is not allowed to sell its recently announced Phantom Gaming GPUs from AMD in the EU. The reason for this is unclear.
The site writes that after publishing a review of the Radeon RX 580 Phantom Gaming GPU, ASRock got in touch to ask where Tom’s Hardware got the card. The sale in the EU is not planned at all. The site quotes the ASRock representative: “My problem is that AMD has not agreed to sell the cards in the EU, which is a real shame.”
It is not clear from the message from the German site whether an explanation was requested, so AMD’s reasons are unclear for the time being. ASRock introduced its first GPUs in the Phantom Gaming line at the end of last month, it concerns cards with GPUs from AMD’s Radeon RX 500 series. For example, on its own site, ASRock writes with the RX 580 8G OC that “this model may not be sold worldwide.”
