Borderlands 2 and the associated downloadable content are now also available for Linux users. The Pre-Sequel expansion will also be released this month and will also be available for this operating system.

Borderlands 2 went on sale in 2012 for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and Windows. The PlayStation Vita joined that list earlier this year. However, it was long uncertain whether Borderlands 2 would also be released for Linux. That has since happened and it is the first time that a Borderlands game for the Linux-based Steam OS has been released. The game is available to download via Steam for a limited time with a 75 percent discount.

In Borderlands 2, the player has a choice of four main characters. The characters from the first part have been captured and need to be freed. The player is hindered during his rescue mission by all kinds of opponents, such as rebels, robots and other creatures.

The game currently only supports video cards from Nvidia. The system requirements explicitly state that the Linux version of Borderlands 2 does not support video cards from Intel and AMD. On the other hand, it is also stated that the system requirements are not conclusive. So if you have a PC that does not meet the system requirements, you may still be able to run the game on it.
