The unannounced, reportedly in development remake of Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic is being made by Aspyr Media. So says game journalist Jason Schreier. Aspyr is known for various ports of Star Wars games.

According to Schreier, it is now publicly known that a party other than Electronic Arts is making the remake of Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic. He was probably referring to his earlier hint from late last year. Then he indicated that there is Kotor project in development, which “no one will guess” who is making it. Schreier now adds that he has actually already confirmed that Aspyr is working on the new game. He made the statements during a podcast episode of MinnMax.

Independent of Schreier, Eurogamer has also learned that Aspyr is indeed involved. The website emphasizes that Aspyr is known for delivering ports, but with regard to the new Knights of the Old Republic game, the developer is mainly busy making a remake of it. Further details on this are still unknown and Aspyr has not confirmed anything yet.

Aspyr Media is best known for making ports of all kinds of Star Wars games. The company is behind the Star Wars Jedi Knight and Star Wars: Episode I Racer for consoles, but the developer also made ports for Android and iOS of Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic 2: The Sith Lords. Earlier this month, Aspyr released modernized versions of the 2005 first-person shooter Star Wars: Republic Commando for the PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch.

The Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic games are classified as single player RPGs. The original came out in 2003 and was made by BioWare. The second part, called The Sith Lords, was released in 2005 and was developed by Obsidian Entertainment. BioWare also had a third installment in development, but that project has been scrapped.
