ASML expects to be able to deliver chip machines later than planned early next year due to a fire that raged at its supplier Prodrive last weekend. Production lines and stocks were destroyed.

The fire will not affect deliveries this year, but those from early next year may experience some delays, ASML reports. It will take weeks to determine the final impact on deliveries. The company from Veldhoven is helping Prodrive to restart production.

On Saturday, a major fire raged at Prodrive in Son, in which part of a building on the Science Park site was destroyed, according to the Brabants Dagblad. Due to the size of the fire and various explosions, the fire brigade had difficulty getting the fire under control. The extent of the damage to production lines and stocks is not yet clear.

Prodrive is a supplier of electronic components with its own production facilities and R&D centers, which has grown considerably in recent years. ASML considers Prodrive to be one of its preferred suppliers, but the company also supplies Philips Medical Systems, for example. A disruption in ASML’s production can have serious consequences; ASML’s new euv machines, for example, cost more than a hundred million euros.
