Ashes of the Singularity gets its first standalone expansion in the fall
Stardock has revealed details about the first expansion for its game Ashes of the Singularity. The expansion is called ‘Escalation’, is standalone and introduces new campaigns, playing fields and units, among other things.
Stardock also says in an announcement that the number of players per playing field will increase from eight to sixteen and that the dimensions of the largest type of playing field will also double. To keep the larger scale on which battles take place, there will also be a strategic zoom.
The new campaigns are split into two parts, with the ‘Memories’ campaign providing insight into the origin of the Substrate, one of the game’s two factions. The story is told from the perspective of leader Haalee. The other deals with the Post-Human Coalition, or PHC, which is the second faction in the game.
Both camps will also receive new units in the form of, among other things, an armored Hera unit for PHC and a Caregiver support unit for Substrate. In addition, the factions are also provided with new buildings and defenses can now be upgraded. Developer Oxide has laid out all the details disclosed so far on the product page for Escalation.
Publisher Stardock will release Escalation in Fall 2016, officially starting September 22. Players who already own the base game will pay $19.99 for the expansion. Those who don’t have it yet will pay $39.99. Prices in euros are not disclosed by the publisher and developer at this time.
