Asetek Introduces GPU Water Cooler That Fits Into PCI-E Slot In Alienware Desktop
Asetek introduced its ‘Rad Card’ this week. This is an AIO water cooler for GPUs. The cooler has the size of a video card, and can be placed in a PCI-e slot. The product is used in the Alienware R11. It is unclear whether the product will be sold separately.
According to Asetek, the Rad Card should make it possible to water-cool both a CPU and a GPU in smaller housings. This is because the Rad Card does not have a separate radiator, leaving room for a PhD water cooler for the CPU. The cooler is placed in a PCI-e slot, and has the size of a separate video card.
The expansion card houses a radiator, a reservoir and a pump. There is also a blower fan incorporated in the card, which should cool the whole. The cooler is used in Alienware’s upcoming Aurora R11 desktop, among other things. The product is used in this PC to cool an Nvidia RTX 2080 Super.
Asetek mainly focuses on producing products for OEMs, so it is not certain whether the Rad Card will also be introduced for individual sales. The company therefore makes no statements about the availability of the Rad Card. However, the company states on Twitter that not all Rad Cards shipped to Dell. We will probably see more products with this GPU water cooler in the future.
