Artis says it did not pay a ransom to the hackers behind the ransomware attack in June of this year. Cyber criminals penetrated the network of the Amsterdam zoo last month and demanded 1 million euros in crypto currency.

Artis has engaged a cybersecurity specialist to investigate the ransomware attack on June 28. That investigation shows that ‘there are no indications that the perpetrators have stolen or viewed (personal) data’. The zoo reports this in an e-mail to members.

The zoo previously announced that the cyber criminals demanded a ransom of one million euros in the form of crypto currency. Artis states that it has not complied with the attackers’ request. Artis further says that it was probably not a targeted attack and that the hackers only had access to the zoo’s systems for a short time. It is not yet known who is behind the ransomware attack.
