Arma developer releases free shooter Argo on June 22
Arma and DayZ developer Bohemia Interactive is releasing the tactical fps shooter Argo via Steam and the Bohemia Store on June 22. The game will be completely free to play and will not contain any microtransactions.
Players who want to support the developers can voluntarily download an optional DLC from Steam for 10 euros. This pack contains a number of extras such as fourteen exclusive animations and a bundle of about twenty unique items such as headgear and backpacks. In addition, the names of the gamers who have purchased the DLC will be marked on the leaderboards and will have exclusive access to premium servers. Developer Bohemia Interactive has announced this.
Announced last year under the name Project Argo, Argo was basically a playable prototype and mod for Arma 3. Argo features tactical combat between two teams of five mercenaries. There are three game modes: Link, Raid and Clash. These are standard modes often found in shooters, where players have to take control points or attack or defend a specific target. In addition, there is a co-op mode, Combat Patrol, where up to ten players have to compete against the AI. The 3D Scenario Editor from Arma 3 will also be available.
The game takes place in a setting very similar to Arma 3. Arma was previously called Operation Flashpoint: Cold War Crisis, which was released on June 22, 2001. Argo is set on the fictional island of Malden, which was also the setting of the original. Arma. According to the maker, the pace of the gameplay will be a bit higher than in Arma. The entire map of this island, measuring 62 square kilometers, will also be available separately as DLC for Arma 3 on June 22.
