Arduino has released two new computer boards. These are the MKR WiFi 1010, which succeeds the MKR 1000 and has an improved WiFi module, and the MKR NB 1500, which is equipped with an economical LTE module for iot applications.

The new boards have been presented on the Arduino website. The company calls the MKR WiFi 1010 an evolution of the MKR1000, but the new model is equipped with an ESP32 module made by u-blox. This module offers WiFi at 2.4GHz and Bluetooth with a lower power consumption than its predecessor.

Furthermore, the MKR1010 is equipped with two processors: the first is based on arm technology and the second is an Espressif IC dual-core processor. In addition, it is equipped with a Microchip ECC508 module, which can be used for secure TLS network communication.

The other new board that has been announced is the MKR NB 1500. This model is equipped with hardware that supports the NB-IoT standard. This makes it suitable for use anywhere in the world in remote areas with equipment that needs to be controlled remotely.

Arduino indicates that both new boards are fully compatible with the Arduino Uno, Mega and MKR boards. The company does not disclose how much the boards will cost, but most Arduino products cost between 20 and 50 euros. They will be available from June.
