Arctic has presented a variant of its Freezer 33 processor cooler that is suitable for Threadripper CPUs. The bottom of the heatsink of the TR variant has been enlarged to cover the large AMD processor.

According to Arctic, the Freezer 33 TR cooler is capable of keeping Threadripper CPUs with a TDP of 180 watts cool. Four heat pipes with a diameter of 6 mm each are in direct contact with the CPU. The heatsink itself is equipped with 49 aluminum fins of 0.4 mm thick.

The cooling tower is 155mm high, 123mm wide and 89mm deep including the included BioniX F120 fan. The 120mm-pwm fan does its job at a speed of 200 to 1800rpm. Arctic sells the Freezer 33 TR cooler with a red or white color accent. The suggested retail price is EUR 47.99.

Because the Threadripper CPUs have a very large surface area, cooler manufacturers have to create new variants of their air coolers that can cover the entire CPU. Last week, Noctua announced three new versions of existing coolers, porting Threadripper and the Epyc server processors. AMD will release the first Threadripper CPUs on Thursday.
