Archos announces smartphones Diamond 2 Plus and 2 Note

Archos has presented the Diamond 2 Plus and Diamond 2 Note. The 2 Plus has a Helio P10 soc, 4GB of ram, 64GB of storage and a 5.5″ full HD screen. The 2 Note will have a 6″ screen with a resolution of 2560×1440 pixels and a faster Helio X10 soc .

The two new smartphones will both receive Android 6.0.1 and Archos will show them for the first time next week at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. Archos has already released the most important details. The manufacturer is committed to a competitive price and wants to be the first to offer a smartphone with 4GB ram and 64GB storage for 299 euros.

With the Diamond 2 Plus, Archos fulfills those objectives. The device uses the Helio P10 soc from MediaTek, this MT6755 is a 64bit processor with four Cortex A53 cores at 2GHz and four A53 cores at 1.2GHz. The CPU is assisted by a Mali T860MP2 GPU. The 5.5″ IPS screen has a resolution of 1920×1080 pixels and the glass over it is of the 2.5d type with curved edges. The battery has a capacity of 3000mAh.

On the front of the housing is an 8-megapixel camera with wide-angle lens and flash, on the back is a 20.7-megapixel camera with Sony sensor. The device has a USB-C connection with support for fast charging and also has a fingerprint scanner. The device supports 4g according to the lte cat6 standard with a maximum speed of 300Mbit/s. The Archos Diamond 2 Plus will be available for purchase from May.

Archos also comes with the Diamond 2 Note. This 6″ model has a 2.5D IPS screen with a resolution of 2560×1440 pixels. According to the manufacturer, the smartphone is no bigger than many 5.5″ devices, because of the thin screen edges. The soc is a MediaTek Helio X10, or the MT6795 with eight A53 cores at 2GHz and a PowerVR G6200 GPU. There is 3GB of RAM and 32GB of storage capacity.

The Diamond 2 Note houses a 16-megapixel camera with dual LED flash and f/2.0 lens. On the front is an 8-megapixel wide-angle camera with f/2.2 lens. The 2 Note films in 4k resolution at 30fps. The device supports 4G networks with a speed of up to 150Mbit/s, the battery has a capacity of 3160mAh. This model will also be released in May, the Diamond 2 Note will have a suggested retail price of 349 euros.
