AR game Mario Kart Live: Home Circuit gets split-screen multiplayer

The augmented reality game Mario Kart Live: Home Circuit is getting split-screen multiplayer in the 2.0 update. Until now, the game required two Switch consoles to play together, but that will no longer be necessary after the update.

After the update, there is the option to choose the split-screen version in addition to local multiplayer, after which the image is divided into two on a TV to show both players the camera image of the karts. That mode still requires two karts. These karts are sold individually.

There will also be a co-op mode, in which up to four players can play with a single kart. This then takes turns. This makes it possible to play with multiple players with a single kart and a single Switch.

The update is out immediately for the game that accompanies Mario Kart Live: Home Circuit. The game came out a year ago and allows users to kart in their own living room, by building a track with items. The game can show images through a camera on the karts.
