Apple’s shipments of iPhones, iPads and Macs soar
Apple sold more iPhones, iPads and Mac systems in the quarter than in the same quarter last year, and sales of these products also increased. Service revenues rose sharply, with Apple converting its services to a record $8.5 billion.
In the third quarter of the year, which Apple sees as its fourth quarter fiscally, Apple shipped 46.7 million iPhones, up from 45.5 million in the same period last year. The increase in delivery numbers was accompanied by a 2 percent increase in iPhone sales.
iPad sales are also on the rise again: deliveries rose from 9.3 million last year to 10.3 million now. Because Apple supplied more expensive iPad Pro models, sales even increased by 14 percent. In addition, the Mac is doing well with deliveries, which increased from 4.9 million to 5.4 million. Again, more expensive Mac systems deliver: Mac revenue grew 25 percent, which is the highest in Mac history.
Services revenue, which includes the App Store, iTunes, Apple Music, Apple Pay and AppleCare, grew 34 percent to $8.5 billion. Apple Watch shipments rose more than 50 percent for the third consecutive quarter. The wearable falls under the Other section at Apple, whose quarterly revenue rose 36 percent to $3.2 billion.
Total quarterly revenue was $52.6 billion. The quarterly profit was $10.7 billion.
