Apple Watch Series 7 gets a little bigger and gets a new design

The Apple Watch Series 7 will be a bit bigger than its predecessor. This information comes from the Chinese social network Weibo. What exactly changes in the Apple Watch series 7 format, and what does it mean for the design of the smart watch?

Apple Watch Series 7 size: bit bigger

The Apple Watch has always been available in two sizes. With the Apple Watch Series 1 to 3, you could choose from 38 or 42 mm. From the Apple Watch Series 4 from 2018, the watch got a new design and the size grew to 40 or 44 mm. And with the Series 7 it will probably be 41 and 45mm.

It’s no surprise that the Apple Watch is getting a bit bigger. There have been rumors for a while about a new design for the Series 7. The edges around the screen are slightly narrower. That is why, despite the larger screen, the watch does not get much bigger. Another design change is that the edges of the Watch become a bit flatter – they still have a sloping edge. The Watch therefore resembles the iPhone 12 and the latest iPad Air.

Apple Watch band with new size

Also released this week was a photo of an Apple Watch band showing one of the new sizes: 45mm. It is probably a leather strap that will be in stores soon.

Speaking of bands, you can probably still use your old bands on the new Watch, despite the new size. That was also the case when the Apple Watch Series 4 appeared. That is, 38 and 40 mm bands match the new 41 mm Watch. And 42 and 44 mm bands are suitable for the new 45 mm Watch. Very nice if you have built up a nice collection of straps over the years.

Apple Watch in September

We expect the new Apple Watch Series 7 to be announced in September, along with the iPhone 13. The Series 7 would have a laminated display and a larger battery.
