Apple would try to prevent manufacturers from making accessories for unannounced iPhones and iPads. There are several companies that release cases even before the products are out and often make them based on rumours.

Rumors about Apple’s new policy come from the usually reliable 9 To 5 Mac. The company would like to make agreements with a number of accessory makers about unannounced products. Under the agreement, manufacturers would no longer be allowed to use information, including rumors, about future Apple products to make accessories. If they do, they run the risk of Apple excluding them as a hardware partner.

With the measures, Apple probably wants to ensure that the flow of rumors about new iPhones and iPads is contained. There are several accessory manufacturers who, based on rumors, are releasing new cases even before the devices are announced by Apple. The Cupertino company is known for wanting to keep its future products strictly secret.

Apple has threatened to no longer stock accessories from manufacturers that refuse to sign. Incidentally, the company could also take other measures, but they were not mentioned. It is not clear which companies have been asked to sign.
