“Apple wants to hire fired Siri listeners itself”
Apple has resumed hiring employees to listen to Siri recordings. The company would like to hire those people itself this time, rather than hire them as contractors.
According to The Irish Times, it would be about 400 vacancies. According to the newspaper, it seems that Apple now wants to hire the employees themselves instead of outsourcing the work. A few weeks ago, Apple stopped the program where certain Siri recordings were tapped by real people after a fuss about it. Hundreds of employees lost their jobs after Apple ended the program. They worked at companies such as Lionbridge and Globetech as subcontractors.
Apple says it wants to start a new program that will listen to recordings of the voice assistant, but that it will now be done on an opt-in basis. As a result, the company wants to further expand the team. Apple says the laid-off employees can apply for the position as soon as that happens, though the company won’t say when the program will resume.
