Apple TV 4K beta makes it possible to watch up to four sports matches simultaneously
Apple is rolling out a new beta version for the Apple TV 4K that will allow users to stream up to four different sports matches simultaneously. This multiview feature appears in tvOS beta version 16.5.
The feature is only available for Apple’s own sports offering. For example, users can watch multiple Major League Soccer matches at the same time. While some matches are free to watch, the MLS Season Pass requires a paid subscription.
It is not clear when the function will become available to all users and whether the multiview option will also come to other sports apps on the Apple TV 4K at a later date. For the time being, the update seems mainly interesting for Apple TV users in the United States, who can watch Friday Night Baseball in addition to Major League Soccer.
The matches are displayed in a grid on the screen, reports TechCrunch. When watching a match, users are given the option to add another match via a button. It is also possible to adjust the size of the matches shown, so that one is displayed larger than the other. The Siri Remote can be used to determine which match the user wants to hear the audio from.
