Apple will announce its iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Pro phones on September 12 or 13. This is reported by Bloomberg journalist and Apple insider Mark Gurman. The phone should appear in stores a week later, on September 22.

Apple will hold its iPhone event this year on Tuesday, September 12 or Wednesday, September 13, Gurman reports his weekly Power On newsletter. The company usually announces its phones in the first two weeks of September, but a concrete date for this year was not yet known.

The phones should then go on pre-sale on Friday, September 15 and actually be released a week later, on September 22. Apple has not yet officially announced its next event, but the timing is consistent with previous iPhone events and Gurman is known to be well sourced within Apple.

The iPhone 15 series will receive several upgrades, according to previous rumors. All models are expected to have a USB-C connection instead of Lightning. This year, the ‘normal’ iPhone 15 phones will get a Dynamic Island instead of a notch in the screen, a better camera and the A16 SoC that Apple introduced in its iPhone 14 Pro phones last year. The Pro models are rumored to have thinner screen edges, a better SoC and a titanium frame instead of stainless steel. The alert slider must also be exchanged for an action button, such as on the Apple Watch Ultra.
