Apple will release the iMac Pro on Thursday. The manufacturer has announced this. The American company is keeping a lid on how much the various variants of the all-in-one will cost in euros. The base model starts at $4999.

The iMac Pro will have a 5k screen and will come with an Intel Xeon processor with up to eighteen cores. The cheapest model has eight cores. The variants with fourteen and eighteen cores will be released early next year; only the eight and ten core versions will be released on Thursday. The graphics muscle comes from an AMD Vega GPU, combined with up to 128GB of memory. The storage is up to 4TB.

On the back are an Ethernet connection, four USB-A ports with USB 3.0, four USB-C connections with Thunderbolt 3, an SD card reader and a 3.5mm jack. There is no cover on the housing to provide the memory with an upgrade at a later time.

With the iMac Pro, Apple wants to release a temporary successor to the Mac Pro from 2013. The desktop without a screen has not been given a successor for years, to the dismay of many people who work on Apple’s machines. Apple previously announced that a new desktop is coming, but that will have to wait at least until next year. YouTuber MKBHD has published a video preview of the new machine. Jonathan Morrison has also had the device for a week, according to a video. Apple introduced the iMac Pro in June.
