Apple to make music sharing with iTunes easier

Apple is reportedly planning to overhaul its iTunes music service. Among other things, the manufacturer would like to integrate its Cloud storage service iCloud more and make it easier to share music with others.

These would be the biggest changes to iTunes since the service’s inception in 2003, claims Bloomberg based on information from anonymous sources. The goal of the better iCloud integration would be to give users more options to manage and use their music, video and apps on all kinds of Apple devices. It should also be easier to find new content and access items from existing collections.

In addition, Apple would negotiate with the music industry to facilitate music sharing. This is popular functionality with competitor Spotify. Apple would like to make it possible for users to send songs to friends, who can then listen to them for free. Music companies are also said to have urged Apple to introduce a subscription-based streaming service so that users can listen to unlimited, just like Spotify, but the Cupertino company is not yet to introduce this. The changes to iTunes would be implemented by the end of this year.
