Apple shows more information about parts and service history in iOS 15.2
From iOS 15.2, it will be possible to consult the parts and service history of iPhone devices. This is evident from an Apple support page. In the settings menu, users will soon be able to check whether certain parts in their iPhone are original or not.
As of iOS version 15.2, iPhone users can view the parts and service history of their devices. This information can be found in the Settings app, where one should highlight the General submenu and then press the Info button.
There, users of an iPhone XR, XS, XS Max or second-generation iPhone SE will be able to check whether the battery has been replaced and whether this is an Apple original. On iPhone 11, 12 and 13 devices, in addition to the information about the battery, the repair history of the screen will also be available. With the iPhone 12 and 13, the history of the battery, display and camera can be seen if they have ever been replaced and whether they are original parts.
If a part that was replaced is not an Apple original, has been used before in another iPhone, or doesn’t work as Apple “expects,” the text “Unknown Part” will appear in the repair history.
Users may also see a notification stating that the company has updated the device information for the iPhone, according to Apple. This applies to the display and battery, according to the company, and means that the company is maintaining or has updated information about the iPhone device in question to conduct a security analysis.
In addition to parts and service history, iOS 15.2 will also include a “digital legacy” feature that will make it possible for next of kin to access a deceased’s iCloud data. The new version of the operating system should also ensure that the screen of iPhone 13 phones can be replaced ‘easier’ again, without Face ID stopping working.
