Apple removes App Store from new version iTunes
Apple has released iTunes 12.7 for macOS. The new version of the software package no longer includes access to the App Store. From now on, users can only install apps via iOS devices.
On its support page, Apple writes that the new iTunes focuses more on music, movies and TV, podcasts and audiobooks. Additionally, iTunes 12.7 adds the ability to sync iOS 11 devices. Apple will release iOS 11 next week.
In previous versions of iTunes, it was possible to purchase iOS apps within the software, or to view and install purchased apps remotely on a linked iOS device. Apple states that this can easily be done in the App Store on iOS devices themselves.
The new iTunes version is not yet available for Windows. In May, Microsoft and Apple announced that the program will be available in the Windows Store, but it is not yet clear when that will be. For now, Windows users should download iTunes from the Apple website. Version 12.6.2 is the most recent version for Microsoft’s operating system. Windows users can install version 12.7 through the Apple Software Update tool.
