Apple releases parts of OS X El Capitan source code

Apple released open source code for OS X 10.11 El Capitan on Wednesday. The release follows the release of version 10.11.2 of the operating system for Mac systems. That release should, among other things, solve WiFi and Bluetooth problems.

Apple has posted the code on OS X 10.11’s open source project page. The components together form Darwin, the Unix operating system of which Apple has been releasing the source code since 1999 and on which OS X is based. Apple has several open source projects, Swift’s being a recent one. In early December, the code of that programming language was revealed.

The release of El Capitan’s code coincides with the release of a new version of that operating system. OS X 10.11.2 update should improve Wi-Fi, Handoff, and Airdrop stability. In addition, the update fixes a number of issues, including those with Bluetooth connections, importing photos, and signing in to FaceTime and Messages.
