Apple releases new iPods for the first time in years
Apple has updated its iPod line. Innovations have been made especially with the iPod touch: the media player gets a faster processor with co-processor and a higher camera resolution. In addition, there is now a version with 128GB storage capacity.
The iPod touch gets a 64-bit soc of Apple’s A8 generation, with which the media player is in line with the iPhones and iPads in terms of computing power and graphic properties. It also enables the player to run iOS 9 and later versions smoothly. The iPod touch runs iOS 8.4 with Apple Music in it. In addition to the A8 soc, there is the M8 coprocessor, which is responsible for processing sensor data for fitness applications, for example.
Furthermore, the sixth-generation iPod touch has a major camera upgrade: it now has an 8-megapixel sensor, just like the iPhone 6 and iPad Air 2. The iPod touch v.5 had to make do with a 5-megapixel camera. Apple has increased the storage capacity of the most expensive model to 128GB.
The touch is available in blue, grey, gold, silver, red and pink. The iPod nano and shuffle are also on the market in those colors. Apple has not made any further changes to those smaller players. The last time Apple introduced new iPods was in 2012. Since then, its line of music players hadn’t been updated.
