Apple releases AirPods Pro with noise canceling for 279 euros
Apple will release a new version of the AirPods bluetooth earplugs on Wednesday that supports noise canceling. Furthermore, these AirPods Pro earplugs have a renewed design that should better seal the user’s ears from ambient noise.
The AirPods Pro have noise canceling to filter out ambient noise as much as possible, but users also have a so-called transparency mode at their disposal so that the sounds in the immediate vicinity are clearly audible. The second generation of the AirPods, which came out in March this year, did not yet have noise cancellation.
Another difference is the redesigned shape, which features a more traditional in-ear design, with silicone tips that plug into the user’s ear. These caps come in three different sizes and should already partially block ambient noise in a passive way; according to Apple, that benefits the noise reduction.
After charging the AirPods Pro once, according to Apple, there is 4.5 hours of listening time, which can go up to 5 hours if noise reduction and transparency mode are turned off. If the earplugs are in the case for five minutes, you should be able to listen to music for an hour, for example. There is also now Bluetooth 5.0 support, charging in the box is possible with Qi chargers or a Lightning connection and the caps are sweat and water resistant in accordance with the ipx4 standard, which does not apply to the charging case.
Due to the new design, the charging box has also been adapted; the case is now more rectangular. The H1 chip is still used and there is support for voice assistant Siri. Apple states that there is an adaptive equalizer that automatically adjusts the music to the shape of the user’s ears. On the stem of the earplugs is a pressure sensor that can be used to control music and telephone calls, but also to switch between noise canceling and transparency mode. There is also an option to share audio, so that you can listen to the same sound with another user on two pairs of AirPods Pro. The AirPods Pro earplugs can currently be ordered and will be available including the charging box from Wednesday for 279 euros.
