Apple offers a three-year warranty for Apple Watch with a swollen battery
Apple appears to be planning to extend warranty to first-generation Apple Watch owners in the event of a swollen battery. Among other things, this problem can cause the screen to become loose.
The company has not made a public announcement, but has made repair centers aware of the changes. 9To5Mac managed to get their hands on the memo, which states that it comes with an additional two-year warranty on top of the one-year manufacturer’s warranty. That only applies to the Apple Watch of the first generation, and only in the case that it suffers from a swollen battery.
Swelling of the battery can move the screen out of place, causing it to become loose. Several Apple Watch users have reported experiencing a swollen battery. The reports are likely to have prompted Apple to extend the warranty program. It is unclear how many Apple Watches are affected by the battery problems.
