Apple has passed the 30 million paid subscriber mark with its Music streaming music service. The provider has taken two years and three months to reach that number, but is still far behind competitor Spotify.

Apple reported reaching more than 30 million Music customers to Billboard. Apple has been promoting its Music service more in recent months and focuses, among other things, on offering music exclusively.

However, Jimmy Iovine, who leads Apple Music, says more is needed. “I think we’re in the right place, with the right people and the right attitude not to settle for what’s now. We’re adding millions of subscribers and the catalog is growing, but that’s not the trick. no booth,” he tells Billboard.

Apple will therefore try to offer even more exclusivity in terms of music, but Iovine also wants to tell ‘the story’ behind artists and songs, including through marketing and documentaries. This should ensure that more customers are willing to pay for music and not turn to free alternatives such as YouTube. Apple’s major competitor, Spotify, reached 60 million paying subscribers last July.
