Apple makes some iPads cheaper and others with more storage
Apple has lowered the prices of many variants of the iPad. In other cases, the manufacturer offers a version with a higher storage capacity for the same price or a tenner more. Apple made the changes Wednesday night.
The biggest price drop is for the 256GB variant of the 4G version of the iPad Pro 12.9, also the most expensive Apple tablet. That goes down by 150 euros, from 1429 euros to 1279 euros. With the iPad Air 2, the manufacturer has chosen to keep the price the same for the Wi-Fi base model, but to double the storage capacity, while with other variants the price increases slightly in exchange for that doubling.
The move removes the American electronics maker from its range of all 16GB models of the tablet. The cheapest variant is the iPad mini 2 with 32GB for 299 euros. Until Wednesday, that was a 16GB variant for that price.
This means that the storage capacities are more in line with those of the new iPhone 7, which Apple presented on Wednesday. It only comes in variants of 32GB, 128GB and 256GB. The iPhone 7 has, among other things, a touch-sensitive Home button, does not have a 3.5 mm jack for headsets and the Plus version has a dual camera to enable optical zoom.
The smartphone will be released in the Benelux in a week and a half, at the same time as other countries such as Germany, France and the United States. It is unknown when new models of iPads will be released. Rumors have it that Apple will add new tablets to the range next year.
