Apple makes iTunes Extras available on Apple TV
Apple has rolled out an update to its Apple TV and iTunes service that gives Apple TV users access to iTunes Extras. This service allows filmmakers to add additional content to their videos, such as behind-the-scenes footage.
Previously, the service was only available on iTunes’ Windows and OS X clients. According to Neowin, users must have the 6.2 update of Apple TV that appeared earlier this week. Filmmakers can add additional content to their movies at any time for users to stream immediately.
From now on, users no longer download the extras as a complete package, but stream them individually from a central server. This allows the additional content to be viewed immediately and there is no need to wait for a download to complete. With the release of iOS 8 in the fall of this year, iTunes Extras will also be available for iPhone and iPad.
