Apple has formally completed its acquisition of Beats Electronics. Both companies announced this in a statement on Friday. The acquisition is finalized earlier than expected. It was assumed to be in the fourth quarter.

Apple reports on its site that Beats has officially been added to its “family.” “Today, Beats is proud to add its own products to Apple’s suite of tools,” Beats said. This means, among other things, that Apple Stores will now officially sell Beats products.

Beats is best known for its headphones and some time ago also released a music streaming service called Beats Music. The company came into the hands of Apple at the end of May, after earlier rumors about it. Apple bought the headphone maker for $3 billion.

The founders, Jimmy Iovine and rapper Dr. Dre, will now work for Apple, which, in its own words, sees the acquisition as an addition to its music offering. There are no plans yet about what the American technology giant wants to do with Beats. “We can’t wait to hear what’s next,” Apple said.
