Apple gives iMac cpu and gpu upgrade

Apple has made a minor upgrade to its iMacs. From now on, the company supplies the systems with more powerful Intel processors and optionally with AMD Pro Vega GPUs. Among other things, the Core i9-9900K is now an option. The design of the 21.5″ and 27″ iMacs has remained the same.

Not all iMacs have received a processor upgrade; the entry-level iMac with Core i5 dual-core at 2.3GHz and integrated Intel GPU remains unchanged. Apple now supplies all other models with an Intel processor of the eighth and ninth instead of seventh generation. For example, the 21.5″ iMac with 4k screen will now receive a Core i3 quadcore at 3.6GHz, the Intel Core i3-8100, instead of a Core i5 quadcore at 3GHz as standard. 21.5″ system with hexacores, such as the Intel Core i5-8500.

Apple now ships the 27″ iMac with Intel’s i5-8500 or i5-8600 hexacores as standard. The most powerful option on the more expensive models is now the Core i9-9900K, an eight-core processor at 3.6GHz with boost to 5GHz.

As far as GPUs are concerned, Apple will now mention the X variants of the Radeon Pro 500 GPUs, but this mainly concerns rebrands. What is new is the option to take the Radeon Pro Vega 20 with the 21.5″ iMac and the Radeon Pro Vega 48 with the 27″ computer. Furthermore, Apple now uses DDR4 on 2666 instead of 2400MHz.

Otherwise, there have been no changes to the updated iMac lineup, and prices have remained the same.
