Apple gives Boot Camp support for Windows Precision Touchpad driver

Apple has released a new update to Boot Camp adding support for the Windows Precision Touchpad driver. This is evident from reports from Reddit users and a support page from Apple.

Only macs with a T2 security chip will receive support for the Microsoft Precision Touchpad driver through Boot Camp 6.1.15. This can be read on an Apple support page. This allows Windows users on a Mac through Boot Camp to use additional touchpad gestures including tapping the touchpad with one finger to select an item or swiping up or down with two fingers to scroll.

Microsoft introduced the Windows Precision Touchpad driver in 2013. The company wanted to use this driver to solve the stiff touchpad experiences on some Windows laptops by offering this driver as a standard alternative on Windows laptops. In 2016, the company announced that it would make Precision Touchpads on Windows laptops mandatory if hardware makers want to receive a “Built for Windows 10” stamp for their products.
