It new system app pricing in the App Store lets developers choose from 900 different prices for their apps. Previously, the minimum amounts for subscriptions and applications were 0.49 and 0.99 euros respectively. The maximum price was just under 1000 euros. In addition to higher and lower prices, developers can now also take smaller steps within predetermined price ranges. This can be done in increments of at least 10 cents up to prices of 9.99 euros.
In addition, “subscription app developers” can set prices in one local version of the App Store, which will automatically set prices in all other currencies. They can then adjust prices per market at their own discretion, within predetermined margins.
Of the 700 new pricing options, the most expensive 100 options are only available upon request. Developers must request permission from Apple before they can charge these prices. Furthermore, options have been added to round prices.
The new options will be available from December 6 for ‘apps with auto-renewing subscriptions’. The new pricing options for all other apps and in-app purchases will be made available in spring 2023. According to Apple This is the biggest pricing update in the App Store’s history. Most recently, the company updated this policy by raising prices, which the current adjustment reverses as developers gain more control over exact prices.
