Apple doesn’t want to give USB-C accessories automatic access to macOS Ventura
Users of Apple laptops with M1 or M2 socs running macOS Ventura will soon need to grant permissions to let USB-C or Thunderbolt accessories talk to the operating system. The measure applies for three days and can be switched off manually.
The new measure for USB-C and Thunderbolt accessories is ready to read in the release notes for the beta of macOS Ventura, the operating system that Apple introduced earlier this week. Apple notes that power supplies, monitors and accessories that connect to an approved hub should not ask for permission. Accessories connected to the laptop during the software update to macOS Ventura are also automatically authorized. Accessories that have not been given permission by the user to talk to the operating system can still be charged. It is unclear whether the measure will also be included in the final version.
Apple introduced macOS Ventura during its developer conference WWDC 2022. The new version of the operating system included new multitasking functions and an improved Spotlight search function. Recent Apple computers running macOS Ventura will also be able to use an iPhone as a webcam thanks to the update.
