Apple developers join WebVR group
Several Apple developers have joined the group that is developing WebVR, a way to show environments in virtual reality in a browser. Apple is the last major browser builder to join the initiative.
Three developers from Apple have joined the group, notice a Google developer. Apple itself has not yet made any statements about the support of WebVR in Safari. Besides Chrome developer Google, there are also people from Mozilla, Microsoft and Samsung in the group, in addition to people from providers such as Vodafone and the Japanese KDDI.
The group is working on the development of WebVR. Among other things, the WebVR API provides access to the position and orientation of the VR headset, while the accompanying Gamepad API provides access to the input of virtual reality controllers. By offering the APIs it is possible to create applications for virtual reality that work equally in various browsers for VR systems. The initiative for WebVR came from Mozilla.
