Apple shipped a record 78.3 million iPhones in the quarter. Deliveries of iPads have fallen further: compared to the same quarter a year earlier, Apple delivered 19 percent fewer tablets.

In addition to a record number of deliveries of iPhones, Apple also booked a record turnover of 78.4 billion dollars, according to the quarterly figures that Apple presented Tuesday evening. That is five percent more than a year earlier. Despite the higher turnover, profit was slightly lower. It amounted to $17.9 billion and in the same period a year earlier it was still $18.4 billion. Apple had a little more time than usual to hit record sales: By the count of weeks, the quarter lasted this time from September 24 to December 30, a week longer than usual in a quarter.

The average price per delivered iPhone in the period from the end of September to the end of December last year was $694, which is about $643 converted. That’s significantly higher than in the previous quarter, when the average price was $618. The higher average price is likely due to the release of the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus, which have been on sale since mid-September. Apple does not disclose specific numbers on numbers per model.

In the first three quarters of last year, Apple actually saw the growth of iPhone deliveries slow down. That was the first time since the introduction of the first model in 2007.

iPad sales are not doing so well. Apple delivered 13.1 million tablets in the quarter, which is 19 percent less than a year earlier. No new tablets from Apple appeared during the period and that may play a role in the further decrease in deliveries. Shipments of Macs, which include both desktops and laptops, remained at a similar level. The number was 1 percent higher than a year earlier, but sales from Macs delivered were 7 percent higher.

Apple continues to see strong growth in service revenues. Compared to the same quarter last year, sales in this segment increased by 18 percent. The previous quarter also saw a significant increase of 24 percent. Revenues from the iTunes App Store and Apple Music, among others, are classified under services.

There are no sales figures for the Apple Watch and Apple TV, but in the ‘other’ category, which includes those products, the company saw sales fall by 8 percent compared to the same quarter a year earlier.
