Apple has acquired Camel Audio, an audio software developer. The British Camel Audio is known for its audio plug-ins, synthesizers and sound libraries. The company sells, among other things, the package Alchemy.

On January 8, it was announced on Camel Audio’s website that its software was no longer for sale. The company also said it would continue to provide support for previously delivered audio software until July 7, 2015, but the exact reason for the shutdown was not disclosed. This gave rise to speculation about a possible takeover.

The takeover rumors appear to be correct: Camel Audio has been taken over by Apple, according to documents. Among other things, the company’s address has changed to Apple’s UK headquarters. Camel Audio CEO Heather Joy Morrison also joined Apple. However, the acquisition has not yet been officially confirmed.

The acquisition amount is unknown. Apple may have acquired the company to include the software in its professional Logic Pro X audio package or consumer-oriented GarageBand.
