Apple blocked notification from Facebook about 30 percent remittance in app
When purchasing access to online events, Facebook wanted to make it clear to users that 30 percent of the price went to Apple, but the iPhone manufacturer has blocked that. The message that Facebook itself did not need anything from the purchase price is also not in the app.
Facebook had asked Apple to waive the rules to pay 30 percent for this app, but got zero on the request, Reuters writes. Facebook wanted that, because it involved paid online events for small businesses and creators struggling with the consequences of the coronavirus outbreak. Apple refused, Facebook wrote earlier.
After that, Facebook wanted to make it clear that 30 percent of the purchase amount for those online events went to Apple and put it in the app. But that was not allowed either. The announcement that none of the amount went to Facebook also did not make it to the final app, Reuters notes.
The move comes in the midst of Epic’s struggle to no longer have to pay 30 percent in the App Store. As a result, Fortnite’s new season is not playable on iOS or macOS. Apple’s ’30-percent rule ‘is under fire from several quarters. Many large companies and smaller developers would like to see Apple cut that rate.
