Apple has blocked the introduction of the ‘Samsung Pay Mini’ application in its App Store. It is not clear why the app is banned from iTunes, but Samsung says in response to this that it will only focus on Android with the app.

The news does not come from Samsung itself, but from the Korean ETnews, which reports to have spoken with Samsung. Samsung Pay Mini is to become a payment system for online transactions that can be completed with a non-Samsung smartphone. Samsung devices can work with Samsung Pay as usual. The payment service supplement should be available in South Korea in January.

It is unknown why the app is banned from the App Store. In general, the process of getting an app on the App Store is more difficult to go through than with Android. Why Samsung chooses to focus only on Android after this rejection is also not clear. Android has at least a market share of 87.5 percent, according to analysts. If it comes to one or more conditions that the app should meet, then there is nothing to prevent Samsung from adjusting the app and trying again.

Apple is working on its own payment system called Apple Pay, which should be introduced in South Korea in the first half of next year, according to ETnews. It is possible that Apple is therefore trying to thwart Samsung in the implementation of its payment system, but this would be against the law, an IT lawyer tells the Korean news medium. Apple declined to comment.
