Apple announces karaoke feature for Apple Music

Apple is adding a new feature to Apple Music that lets you sing along with songs. The new functionality is called Apple Music Sing and should be available to Apple Music members on Apple devices later this year.

Apple Music Sing displays lyrics in real time so you can sing along word for word. The feature should work with all songs in the Apple Music catalog. Apple did create special playlists with songs for which Apple Music Sing is optimized. There are 50 playlists in total. A release date has not yet been announced, but according to Apple, the new functionality has yet to become available to subscribers worldwide.

Users can choose whether to sing alone or along with the song’s original singer. It is also possible to do duets via the Duet mode. In this mode, the app shows the different vocal parts at the same time.

Apple Music Sing will be available on iPhone, iPad and Apple TV 4K. Support for the Android or Windows version of Apple Music is not mentioned.
