Apple has announced from the Steve Jobs Theater in Cupertino that it will be expanding its existing Apple News service. The new service is called News+ and the most important innovation is the addition of about 300 US-oriented magazines.

Tim Cook explains that Apple News+ is about 300 different magazines in all kinds of areas. Digital, American subscriptions such as The Skimm and the newspaper Los Angeles Times and The Wall Street Journal are also part of Apple News+.

The company emphasizes that Apple News+ is the only service that integrates both magazines and a news collection service. The presentation showed how to browse a National Geographic magazine on an iPhone and an iPad, adapting the layout to the size of the screen.

The company states that it has a good privacy policy with the service. Partly because groups of articles are removed from the servers, the company would not know exactly what users of Apple News+ read. In addition, the company does not allow companies to use tracking.

The Apple News+ service is aimed at the United States and Canada, but it will be released later in Australia and Europe. It will be available in the UK in the fall of this year. It is unknown whether the service will also be extended to other European countries. A French version is obvious, as a French version is also available in Canada.
