Apple allows App Store users to share in-app purchases with family
It is now possible for App Store users to share in-app purchases with family members. This may include, for example, subscriptions or additional functions that have been purchased within applications.
The arrival of Family Sharing has been known for some time, but Apple has now actually enabled the capability, meaning developers can embed the capability into their applications. Apple has put a support page online that explains how this works. You can share with family with up to five others.
Family Sharing makes it possible, among other things, to share subscription services with family members. Purchased extras can also be shared in apps, as long as they are ‘non-consumables’. That is, things like currency used in games cannot be shared, but purchased pro versions of apps or additional features can.
Google also introduced the option to share paid apps with family members a few years ago. With Play Family, up to six users can form a group and share purchased apps, movies or books on the main account. Users can also share streaming service Play Music.
