Apple admits motherboard problems in some of the MacBook Air models from 2018
Apple is said to have confirmed that some 2018 MacBook Air models could experience motherboard problems. The company would therefore provide these models with a new motherboard for up to four years after purchase at no extra cost.
According to Apple, it would be a very limited number of MacBook Air models, writes 9to5Mac, which claims to have had access to an internal document about the problems. Apple is said to have informed the Apple Stores and technical personnel about the matter with this document.
The issues are said to affect 2018 13″ MacBook Air laptops with specific model numbers. The description says only “power” according to 9to5Mac, which points to problems some customers experienced last year with their new MacBook Air not being able to boot. unknown how many users are involved.
Apple will e-mail customers with the laptops in question where possible. Users could have their computers checked at Apple Stores. Victims can have their motherboard replaced free of charge, up to four years after purchasing the model. The program is not yet on Apple’s repair campaign site.
