Battle royale game Apex Legends will be released for Nintendo Switch on March 9. The port will therefore arrive a lot later than expected. The Switch version of Apex Legends should have been released last year.

Publisher EA lists the date on its website. It was already known that the free-to-play game would be released for the Switch in 2021, but an exact date was not yet known. The release date is a lot later than EA originally planned. In the summer of last year, the company said the game would be released in the fall, but that was later delayed because the team needed more time for port.

The port for the Switch was created in collaboration with Panic Button, a developer who has worked extensively on other ports. The game comes with cross platform support and according to the developers contains all the features of the full game. Players will receive thirty free tiers of the Season 8 Battle Pass; it comes out on February 2. The developer also says that players will get double XP when they play on the Switch two weeks after release.
