AOC releases portable 15.6″ monitor with USB connection

AOC has released a portable 15.6″ monitor with a built-in stand and a USB 3.0 connection. The screen, which is equipped with an IPS panel with a resolution of 1920×1080 pixels, is also powered via the USB connection.

The AOC I1659FWUX can be used as an external monitor for laptops. At the back is a folding stand, with which the screen can be placed on a flat surface. The angle is adjustable from 15 to 30 degrees. The whole weighs 1.2 kg and is 3.5 cm thick.

The USB 3.0 port is the only connection option. According to AOC, the screen consumes 8 watts and 0.5 watts in standby. The IPS panel used has a maximum brightness of 220 cd/m², a contrast ratio of 700:1 and a refresh rate of 60Hz.

According to AOC, the response time is 25ms. This probably concerns the black-to-white-to-black response time. That would correspond to a gray-to-gray time of about 5ms. AOC’s portable screen costs about $150 in the US. Converted with VAT, that is about 169 euros. It is unknown whether the screen will also come to Europe.
