AOC launches thin, ‘borderless’ IPS monitors

AOC has announced monitors in the new V2 series. The screens have IPS panels and are characterized by a thin and apparently borderless design, with the screen edges placed behind the panel. The edge is only visible at the bottom.

In the V2 series there are three models with increasing screen diagonals: a 21.5″, a 23.8″ and a 27″ version. The 22V2Q, the 21.5″ version, and the 24V2Q have a thickness of 7.7mm, while the 27V2Q comes in at 7.9mm. The monitors all have full HD resolution, have a horizontal viewing angle of 178 degrees and can display 72 percent of the NTSC color space.

The response time is 5ms, the refresh rate is 75Hz and the maximum brightness is 250cd/m². According to AOC, the contrast value is 1000:1. In addition, AMD FreeSync is supported, although it is not clear between which values ​​of the refresh rate FreeSync can actually be switched on. Furthermore, the manufacturer has provided the monitor with ‘flicker-free’ technology, which should make it more pleasant to look at the screen at high refresh rates.

A metal base, in which the connections are incorporated, allows users to tilt the monitor twenty degrees. The screens have a single HDMI and displayport connection and cables for both connections are included. In July, the monitors will be on the market for suggested retail prices of 139, 149 and 209 euros. The small 22V2Q is the cheapest model and the 27″ version the most expensive.
