AOC is coming in September with two new monitors for gamers, one with a diagonal of 21.5 inches and one of 24 inches. The screens have support for AMD’s FreeSync technology, which should prevent the image from stuttering.

Both the G2260VWQ6 with 21.5″ screen and the G2460VQ6 with 24″ screen have a TN panel with the resolution of 1920×1080 pixels at a maximum brightness of 250cd/m2. The response time is 1ms at 60Hz. Both monitors are equipped with hdmi, d-sub and displayport, without further interfaces. The screens support AMD’s FreeSync, which uses a dynamic refresh rate to ensure that the display and video card work completely in sync, preventing tearing and stuttering.

In addition, AOC claims to be able to reduce the negative properties of blue light. This is not done by filtering, but by shifting the wavelength peak from 450nm to 460nm. As a result, less blue light would be emitted in the 380-450nm range. According to AOC, light at these wavelengths causes harmful effects, although it does not seem to prevent sleeping problems. Research has shown that melatonin production is mainly influenced by light at 459–485nm.

AOC refers in particular to the eye condition macular degeneration, in which visual acuity decreases due to the death of cells in the central part of the retina. It is not known whether claims or research in this area has been confirmed by peer review. The AOC G2260VWQ6 and G2460VQ6 will be available from September 2015 for a suggested retail price of 149 and 179 euros respectively.
