Samsung has announced that it will host an Unpacked event on March 29. The invitation bears the words ‘Unbox your phone’. During the event, which can be viewed via a live stream, the Galaxy S8 will probably be announced.

In the announcement of the livestream, Samsung does not literally say that it is about the presentation of the Galaxy S8, but the manufacturer has already announced that it will not announce the device during the Mobile World Congress. Samsung did promise to announce the date during that fair. With the announcement of Samsung Unpacked on March 29, that promise now seems to have been fulfilled.

The announcement shows the contours of a smartphone without screen edges. Furthermore, Samsung does not reveal any details about the Galaxy S8. However, the manufacturer presented its Exynos 9-series 8895-soc in the past week, which will probably be used in the device. It is an octacore made on a 10nm finfet process with four Samsung-designed cores and four ARM Cortex-53 cores. The GPU is the Mali-G71 in a version with twenty cores. The integrated modem supports 4G speeds of up to 1Gbit/s.

In recent months, a lot of information has already come out about the new flagship. The device will probably have a screen that covers almost the entire front, so that there is no longer a physical home button. The fingerprint scanner would be placed at the back. The Galaxy S8 is rumored to have an iris scanner and a water-resistant housing. The S8+ would get a dual 12-megapixel camera on the back, while the regular S8 will get a single camera.
