Anker writes that 'some' lithium-ion batteries of the compact 321 power bank may overheat, causing plastic parts to melt and creating a smoke and fire hazard. According to the manufacturer, this only concerns a batch produced after March 2023. To be on the safe side, all power banks with model number A1112 are being recalled.
Anker advises customers to no longer use the power bank. Users can complete a recall form and return their 321 to a recycling point. If the information entered is correct, Anker will send a PowerCore 533 power bank as a replacement. It has a maximum power of 30W and a battery capacity of 10,000mAh, while the 321 has a top power of 12W and a 5200mAh battery capacity.
Anchor calls also returns certain models of its portable Soundcore A3102 speaker. They could also have 'battery problems', making them a fire hazard. This only concerns black variants of the speaker that were produced between March and April 2023.
Update, 11.21: The article originally stated that the MagSafe version of the 321 power bank is being recalled. That is not correct, it concerns the model without MagSafe support. The article has been adjusted accordingly.
