Android version Chrome gets single sign-on for Google services
Google has released a beta for the Android version of Chrome that makes it possible to automatically log in to Google services as long as the user is logged in in the browser. Google is also renewing parts of the interface.
The innovations for the Chrome browser on Android have been announced by Google on its weblog. The main new feature for the browser is support for single sign-on: when the user logs in with their Google account on the Chrome browser, they can also choose to automatically log in to Google services accessible via the browser , such as Gmail, Maps, and the search engine.
By logging into Chrome it was already possible to transfer things like bookmarks and passwords from other devices that use the browser. When single sign-on will appear in a final version of Chrome is not yet clear. Google has also not disclosed whether the functionality will also come to the desktop version of Chrome. The beta for Chrome can be downloaded from the Play Store.
Furthermore, the new version of Chrome on Android gets a new lick of paint. According to Google, the beta version will receive a number of new graphic elements from the Material Design that the company previously presented as its new corporate identity: earlier this week, Google already came up with a new interface for the Play store.
